FALL  ADULT  EDUCATION
On September 20th Dr. Bill Hovingh began a new adult Sunday School class which meets Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM.  The KERYGMA class follows the book “Parables: Stories for Life” which was written by Dr. Richard J. Henderson. In his Preface Dr. Henderson writes. “Most biblical scholars agree that the parables are among the most authentic words of Jesus.” He goes on to say. “A parable is a unique and fascinating way of communicating. It can hold the attention of a small child; it can change the life of the most hardened adult. It teases us with its simplicity, and at the same time draws us deeper into its meaning as we read it again and again. Jesus chose this marvelous tool as a primary way to bring us the good news. I invite you to join me in exploring these wonderful stories that have continued to intrigue and transform people’s lives for centuries.” The class will follow the outline of the book. Chapter topics include:
1Introduction to the Parables
2Parables of Growth
3Parables of Reversal
4Parables of Preparedness
5Parables of Decision
6Parables of Treasure
7The Parable Tradition
Appendix: Parables of Jesus in Matthew, Mark, Luke.
All are welcome to attend and we would love to have you join us.

CONFIRMATION CLASS IS IN FULL SWING
Cris Karem and Justin Bagby are beginning the second semester of their confirmation studies. Confirmation is a tradition within the Lutheran Church where young people go through 2-3 years of instruction preparing them to affirm their profession of faith, which began at their Baptism. This semester, the boys are going through sessions on The Lord’s Prayer, My Faith, and Meaning of Service.  Concurrently, Olivia Beres is going through confirmation studies at St. John Lutheran Church. Please keep these three young people in your prayers as they discern and learn about their faith, their church and their lives at young Christians.
If you have any questions, please talk to Pastor Steven.
